The majestic Colca canyon, is a huge valley in the Colca river basin, it is the third largest in the world with a depth of 4,160 meters and more than 200 kilometers; The scenery that can be seen is formed by cliffs with several meters of unevenness, which form terraces, with steep slopes that goes from the snow-capped Bomboya to the depths of the Canyon.
The canyon also stands out because the famous Andean condors inhabit its cavities, a species of bird of prey considered the largest in the world, characteristic for a white feather necklace and large white spots on its wings.
TOUR COLCA CANYON - AREQUIPA 1 DAY
Get ready to live a unique experience at 4,000 meters above sea level in the second deepest canyon in the world.
Very early in the morning, around 03:00 am. our local guide will be picking you up from your hotel and head to Chivay, where we will make a short stop to taste a delicious breakfast, later we will go to the viewpoint of the Cruz del Cóndor, a natural viewpoint from where we will appreciate the beautiful terraces and the exotic landscape, also we will see the king of Colca, the Andean condor in his majestic flight through the Canyon. It is a wonderful sight to take pictures.
Then, we will return to Chivay making stops to visit its attractions in each Andean towns of Pinchollo, Maca and Yanque, the viewpoint of Antahuilque and Choquetico, where we have the option of taste the Colca sour. After that, we will go to the thermal baths of Calera whose medicinal waters range between 35°C and 38°C.
Upon arrival in Chivay, we will have a buffet lunch, before comeback to Arequipa city. In the road we will make stops at: Mirador de los Volcanes at (4,800 masl), from there we will be able to appreciate the western mountain range, as well as the different volcanoes such as Sabancaya, Ubinas among others; Pampa Cañahuas, a place inhabited by South American camelids such as the vicuña that graze free in its extension, finally, at 6:30 pm. We will arrive in the city of Arequipa and transfer you to your hotel.
